Need a cure for Cabin fever? Come on out to Bob & Sue Herzog's Cabin on Channel Lake in Antioch at Noon for the Lotus Corps Sno-Be-Que. Plenty of food and libations will be provided for the Sunday afternoon's festivities. Bring your snow boots and take a hike out on the lake to visit the little city of ice fishermen and snowmobilers. Marvel at the excitement of sitting on a plastic bucket and staring down an icy hole waiting for your fishing line to wiggle.
Bring the kids and have a snow ball fight by the outdoor fire, then come on in to warm up with some hot chocolate, food, socializing and relaxing. There will be a new 500 piece Lotus Puzzle to assemble. Check out how many Lotus Elans and Elan chassis' Bob can stuff in the basement.

The Chicagoland MG Car Club hosts the Sixteenth Annual Swap
Meet for British Cars. The swap meet features vendors for new,
used, and reburbished parts, plus various restoration services,
accessories, and regalia. Lotus Corps will once again have a booth
to introduce the club to the public and prospective members.
Members are requested to sit an hour and "man the booth" during
the day. The swap meet is open from 8 AM to 3 PM, although
many of the vendors tend to pack up early. Tickets are $5 per person,
parking and children under 12 are free.

The 9th Annual Lotus Corps Late Winter Enduro
Hey All, Time for the 9th (yeah, nine years already) Annual Lotus Corps Late Winter Enduro. Dig the John Player Special livery for the invite graphic in honor of Lotus' return to Indy Car racing along with the their takeover of the Renault Formula One team. Enough of that, back to go-karting.
So here's the 411 on the karting event to refresh the memories of the racing alumni and to inform the newbies:
It's back at Chicago Indoor Racing in Buffalo Grove, Saturday March 10th. 5pm Arrival time.
This is an Endurance style race involving 10 race teams with 4 drivers on each team. If we have enough interest we might expand the teams to 5 or even 6 drivers a team. The event is one hour in length. An additional 15 minutes will be added per additional team member if we expand the participants to 50 or 60. There will be a Pit Window approximately every 7.5 minutes for driver changes. There will be penalties for teams that pit their kart outside the Pit Window. This is a Coed event and it's highly encouraged that each team have at least one female driver. The 2nd driver slot is traditionally reserved for the female drivers in order to minimize Testosterone-fueled Red Mist incidents on track.
The grid will fill up on a first-come-first-serve basis. You may reserve an individual slot or a whole team slot by simply responding to me. Your slots are not "locked in" until I receive a check. If you want to field a team, I'll require one check for the whole team. Reservations for team slots will be held until Feb 24th upon which time I reserve the right to move people from the potential Stand By list into slots.
All money for individual slots is due by Friday March 3rd. After that date I will once again be slotting people in from the standby list if there is one.
I'll do my best to honor individual requests to partner people with friends, but my priority is to field full teams with one female in it.
Once again the event will be $40 per person and $30 if you are a Lotus Corps Member in good standing.

Annual Auction
Our biggest and most popular meeting of the year is the Annual Auction. Donations of all sorts are brought in by our members and select commercial businesses, and then auctioned off to the highest bidder. The proceeds from the sale go to help pay for the fun events and activities we all enjoy. Mark this date as one you will not want to miss. It will be one week earlier than usual to avoid conflicting with the Thanksgiving holiday.
In the meantime while you are cleaning out the basement, attic, or garage, please keep an eye out for items that could be donated to the Auction. Car parts (especially Lotus), tools and equipment, accessories, books, magazines, posters, models, and memorabilia are good candidates. Just about anything in fact, that a sports car enthusiast might find desirable.
