This month brings two new additions to my collection from Spark models. Spark models is part of the Minimax corporation from China, and produces a variety of 1/43 scale models in a resin format. Normally, when one thinks of resin, the immediate image that comes to mind are the fragile plastic models that we have all built at one time or another. Luckily, this is not the case with these beauties. The detail is every bit impressive as the diecast counterparts (aka kyosho and minichamps line)- with even the smallest details (brembo details on the brake calipers) present. Each of these comes with a very nice (and heavy) acrylic
case to protect them.

First up is the Lotus GT1 - it's the team MVR version (No. 19), that raced in the FIA GT series in 1997.

Here's the kind of detail that one can expect from Spark models:

The second addition to my collection is the Lotus Esprit Sport 300, No. 61, that was raced at LeMans in 1994. Again, the quality is on par with Minichamps and Kyosho models.. ..at about half the cost! I was particularly excited to see this released in completed resin form, as previously the only way to get this model was in a white metal kit form from Starter models. I have a whole box of these 1/43 white metal kits, and have yet to make any of them ... oh well, someday in my spare time!

Here's a close up picture so you can see the detail!

I ordered both of these models from Replicarz during their last website sale - they ended up being less than $20 a piece! A great bargain for you lotusphile model collectors.
Happy Hunting!
